Pasta and Jazz Night - July 19th
Café Cimino Country Inn will host the 5th Annual Pasta and Jazz Night, sponsored by WV Oil and Natural Gas Association. This year we are mixin' in a little R&B and Soul with The Carpenter Ants, of Charleston, WV...call for your reservations 304-765-2913

Who the heck are the Carpenter Ants??
WV's premiere rhythm & blues band, the Ants have quietly amassed a resume that rivals many national groups. The core of the band consists of guitarist Michael Lipton, drummer Jupiter Little, bassist Ted Harrison and vocalist/saxophonist Charlie Tee. A revolving cast of auxiliary Ants has included singer/songwriter Larry Groce (host of NPR's "Mountain Stage") original NRBQ guitarist Steve Ferguson legendary Hammond B3 player Winston Walls and Robert Shafer, one of the country's premiere Telecaster slingers and two-time national flat-picking champion.
That Dam Race 5K - July 20th
The race begins at beautiful Sutton Dam, goes through a trail in the woods, and onto historic Main Street in Sutton.
Be sure to be early, the area will be blocked off to traffic beginning at 7:30 am!
- Entry fee is $20.00 for preregistration and $25 for registration the morning of the race. Seniors age 60 or older $20.
- 7:00 am race day registration for 5K
- 8:00 am "That Dam Race" begins
- First 100 preregistered participants get a FREE shirt!
The course begins under the backdrop of the magnificent Sutton Dam at the Downstream Recreation Area. Participants then have a strenuous climb up the face of the dam and then across the top of the dam. Then the course takes them on a trip through the woods and back down to the Elk River. Then, to the brick paved streets of historic downtown Sutton past many beautiful, majestic buildings. The finish line is nearly in sight as participants head back up river with the dam in the distance. The race ends back at the Downstream Recreation Area where it began. Come and run/walk one of the toughest and most unique courses in the region!
Shelters 1, 2 and 3 are located at the Sutton Dam. From, I-79, take Exit 62 Sutton/Gassaway. Turn left on SR 4, approximately 2 miles into Sutton. Turn right at the Stop sign, cross the Elk River, and Turn Left to the Dam.

Chippewa Lake Ski Show Team - July 20th
The amazing Chippewa Lake Water Ski Show Team will perform three times! The performances are scheduled for 2 pm, 4 pm, and 6 pm. The Chippewa Lake Ski Show Team perform incredible acrobatics, complicated jumps, and formations while barreling across the lake at high speeds. You will be on the edge of your seat the entire performance. The amazing thing is that it's free and open to the public! This event sponsored by Chesapeake Energy.
Anything That Floats But a Boat Race - July 20th
Think that you can build something that will beat out the competition? Try your hand at this one of a kind competition at the Mountain Lakes Festival! Let your imagination run wild. You can use anything to build your craft, as long as it's not a BOAT!

Challenge your friends, get your youth group, scout troop or co-workers involved....it's always a great time for everyone, even if you end up in the drink. Plus your group could take home up too $500, and bragging rights too!!!

Kid's Fishing Tournament - July 20th
Make sure the kids come out for the Kids Fishing Tournament on Saturday as well. For more info contact the Sutton Lake Marina at 304-765-2120 or 304-765-2401. This event sponsored by Bank of Gassaway
The kids will also enjoy several inflatable attractions. There will be a water slide along with a free bounce house and a possible third inflatable attraction.
Sutton Dam Tours - July 21st
The 21st offers fascinating and informative Sutton Dam tours. Discover the inner working of the Sutton Dam and what it takes to keep it up and running. Tours will be hosted by the Army Corps of Engineers from 10 AM to 2 PM. All visitors over 16 years old need to have a photo ID. No cameras, cell phones, or handbags can be taken into the dam. Tours typically last 45 minutes and do require walking stairs (we can make accommodations for wheelchairs). Our folks will handle registration and tours. Pre-registration is recommended to be sure you get your spot on a tour. So call 304-765-2816 today to schedule your tour.
